KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor congratulated the Federal Government for the approval of the RM322.5 billion National 2021 Budget at the Policy level in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Under the passed Budget it would see among others an additional RM50 million allocated to Sabah in December to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sabah has benefitted from a RM3 billion Federal government allocation in the fight against Covid-19 since the pandemic struck early this year through various channels including Prihatin & Penjana aids and Nadma.

“Hence, on behalf of the Sabah Government, I would like to congratulate the Perikatan Nasional Federal Government for the approval of its maiden budget,” he said.

The Chief Minister was commenting on the approval of the 2021 Budget by voice vote after Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s Budget winding-up speech.

The budget is 20.6 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product, higher than the previous year’s allocation of RM297 billion and it is the biggest Federal Budget so far.

Hajiji assured that the State Government would work closely with its Federal counterparts in ensuring all development programmes outlined in the 2021 Budget are implemented successfully.
